Unique Wedding Ideas

The traditional wedding includes a bride in a white dress, a bridal party in black and pastel, a white pillar cake and a steak dinner with champagne toasts and dancing. If you’ve ever thought of a wedding that was a little out of the ordinary, something that no one else has ever done before, we’ve got some wedding themes that will be impossible for you and your guests to forget!

Fall Themes
One of our staff members at Apartments.com had a Halloween wedding and incorporated all her favorite elements of this festive yet mysterious holiday including hand made haunted house centerpieces, dancing to the Time Warp and kids in costumes. If you are marrying from September-November, you can choose something as simple as fall colors and some decorative leaves or throw an all-out Halloween bash.

For a fall-themed event, choose your favorite deep colors for the flowers, dress and décor. Burgundy, rust, burnt orange, yellow-green and gold are the palette colors for autumn. The bride may opt for a cream-colored dress (or even light tan) instead of bright white. If you live in a climate where the leaves turn, consider an outdoor wedding in a vineyard, orchard or country inn. Create centerpieces and other décor with silk leaves and infuse maple flavor into your meal and cake.
A Halloween theme can be cute and childlike, with big smiling pumpkins and candy favors for the guests. It can also evoke the mysterious element of Halloween with elegant but spooky touches like capes for the bridal party, black and red floral displays and drippy candles on the reception tables. Perhaps you can hire a fortuneteller for the reception and have the DJ play spooky music to set the mood.

Winter Themes
The holidays create the perfect magical feeling for a winter wedding. Use poinsettias, evergreens and holly for your floral displays and red or green dresses for the bridesmaids. Guests can be served plates of traditional Christmas cookies and velvet décor makes a beautiful accent for a traditional church setting and reception room. Try a Christmas tree and wreaths that hang on the bridal party table and gold or silver accents on the table centerpieces.
Another winter idea is to use the beauty of large indoor spaces like museums and city libraries and create an art deco theme. Vintage cars can escort the bridal party, who are decked out in sheath dresses and traditional tuxedos. Calla lilies and ferns create unique floral displays, while a jazz band sets the mood during the reception. Use the architecture of buildings, including large archways and fountains, as decorative elements for the wedding and keep the theme big and bold with champagne corks popping throughout the evening.

Spring Themes
Why not pick your favorite decade and use it as your wedding theme? Choose your favorite time period, from “the roaring ’20s”, or even “the outrageous ’80’s” and choose colors, dresses and music that celebrate that time in history. Ask your guests to dress according to your theme or serve a meal that reflects the tastes of that time.
Make your spring wedding a day that reflects your unique interests. Love to paint? Create an artists’ themed day by displaying your favorite prints around the reception hall and placing easels next to the guest tables so they can draw you their own memory instead of signing a guest book. Are you a fan of magic and wizardry? Dress as sorcerers and create “potions” and magical spells for your dinner. Your wedding will be a day that truly reflects your personality.

Summer Themes
A beach wedding combines all the popular elements of summer including sand, ice cream, surfboards and seashells. Dress your bridal party in casual wear— short, flowing dresses for the ladies and button-down shirts for the men. If you are able, let the beach serve as the backdrop for your ceremony and have a reception with a view of the water. Use shells and bright candles for centerpieces and play cheerful, upbeat music during the reception.
Celebrate your own culture or one that you love on your wedding day. Create a big, bold bash by incorporating Latin colors and flavors at your reception or have an Arabian Night theme by serving Middle Eastern food and using bright, sensual colors. Learn cultural dances and hire a musician whose work is unique to that part of the world.

Unique Wedding Favors can make you pull your hair out

Okie Dokey, the wedding is scheduled and you need a bunch of unique wedding favors. They convey to your guests that they mean a lot to you. You've been planning uninterrupted for weeks and finally it is time for... the wedding. Let the merrymaking begin.

Don't just pitch the unique wedding favors on the wedding tables in a helter skelter fashion. Carefully place them in a way that indicates the importance of your guests to you. Spending a lot of money does not mean that your will be a hit.

Yeah I know, everyone always looks forward to the wedding, but you see, the reception is very important also. Don't you agree? The nuptial gathering is a time for reflection with the family and anticipation of new beginnings. When your guests are seated, guess what they notice right off the bat? Get it correct and they are a smash, make a gaffe and you know what they will think aboutmost about your wedding.

The one thing I would counsel that you consider to ensure that your gifts are a hit is personalization. When you personalize your favors you are saying to you guests that they are important to you and you care.

Most all brides and grooms make the blunder when planning their once in a lifetime wedding event in making it too complicated. Keep it simple and you will have much less stress. And you don't want any extra wedding day distress, right? Same goes for your personalized wedding favors, keep them simple.

Choose your guests feelings over yours when making your choice. You want them to remember your wedding as an pleasing experience for years to come. You can get some astounding ideas looking through bridal magazines. This, of course, is the special pastime of brides to be the world over. Give it a try.

Do not forgetsecureyour unique wedding favors with your guests experience in mind. You desire them to feel welcomed the moment as they show up. Try very very hard to make sure you choose your favors with emotions considered.

Remember, your wedding day is something that you have looked forward to since you were young. Take your time, think about others when choosing your unique wedding favors and you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that you did the correctthing.
